John Buchanan Presents
TWO SETS OF CDs FEATURING SOME OF HIS FAVOURITE RECORDINGS FROM THE GREAT SWING ERA 1935 – 1940
The Swing Era of the 1930s was the first great period in popular music – music that emerged from the black and white dance bands of the “Jazz Age” of the 1920s. It reached its height of popularity during the period of the Great Depression that followed the Wall Street collapse of 1929.
“Volume 1 in this series is now available with fifty of my favourite recordings from the years 1935 to 1940. Included on this website are the essential discography details relating to each recording session and samples of the music from some of the recordings selected. Eventually we will release a total of four volumes of this series, “A JOURNEY THROUGH THE GREAT MUSIC OF THE SWING ERA,” each volume containing two CDs with around fifty of the finest recordings made during this most exciting period in music.” – John Buchanan.
“Almost two hours of popular songs from two of the greatest bands of the Swing Era, planned to bring pleasure to those over 70 years of age and give comfort to those with depression, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. For those who might be suffering from depression, dementia or Alzhiemer’s disease I have added a small amount of comment between some of the tunes to avoid creating the monotony of wall-to-wall music. Also available loaded onto a set of headphones.” – John Buchanan.
